The SAT Engine

The SAT is a digital test now. Students take it inside software, with its own tools and its own way of moving through questions. Almost all prep still happens on paper, or in a generic online quiz.

That means on test day a student is doing two things at once: working out the environment, and answering the questions. It is a bad moment to be learning where the buttons are.

The SAT Engine is a practice environment built to match test-day conditions. Every rep happens in there. Students get good with the tools at the same time they are getting good with the concepts, out of the same practice. By test day the software is invisible, and all of their attention is on the questions.

Every attempt is scored by topic as well, so practice can be aimed at the exact places where points are being lost.

The Engine is included in every SAT Learning program. It is not sold on its own.

Who built this

SAT Learning was created by Justin Messina, who holds a master’s in Systems Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and has spent over ten years coaching people one-on-one.

Systems thinking is how he works. Take something complicated, break it into its parts, find the gaps that actually matter, and build a solution around them. He has done that with people for over ten years, helping them perform at a high level in the areas that count.

He did the same thing with this test. Then he built the course, the Engine, and the video solutions around what he found.
